ENTERPRISE CONNECTION: CAREER ORIENTATION FOR STUDENTS OF THE FACULTY OF ECONOMICS AND AGRICULTURE

On the afternoon of September 8, 2026, the Faculty of Economics and Agriculture at Kien Giang College (KGC), in collaboration with Hồng Lĩnh Private Enterprise, successfully organized an exchange program titled "Enterprise Connection - Career Orientation for Students." Held from 1:30 PM to 5:00 PM, the event attracted 190 students across various disciplines, including Accounting, Business Administration, Veterinary Services, Aquaculture, Plant Protection, and Food Technology.

This initiative is part of an ongoing series of university-industry collaboration activities designed to bridge academic theory with real-world professional practice. Through the program, students gained direct exposure to the corporate environment, receiving valuable insights regarding labor market trends, recruitment requirements, and essential career skills.

Key attendees included Ms. Trần Thị Thương Huyền, Deputy Director of Hồng Lĩnh Private Enterprise; Mr. Tống Văn Thắng, Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Agriculture; Ms. Nguyễn Thị Thiếu, Vice Dean; alongside faculty members and students.

During the session, representatives from Hồng Lĩnh Private Enterprise provided practical information on business operations, employment demands, and key competencies sought in young talent. The interactive format allowed students to discuss job prospects, interview preparation, common workplace challenges, and core professional skills—ranging from communication and teamwork to problem-solving, adaptability, and workplace ethics.

Active corporate involvement—through networking events, field trips, internships, and recruitment activities—not only offers students valuable professional experiences but also enables the university to stay abreast of labor market demands and progressively enhance the quality of education. For the Faculty of Economics and Agriculture, organizing business-linkage activities is a key strategy to strengthen cooperation between the institution and the corporate sector, thereby creating an environment where students can engage in practical learning, gain early exposure to the profession, and better prepare for their future careers after graduation.

Trần Trường Huy, an alumnus of Hotel Management 1 (Cohort 11) at Kien Giang College, stands out as an exemplary graduate of the Faculty of Tourism and Foreign Languages, embodying the spirit of "Dynamic – Confident – Shining." His progression from an active youth union leader to Restaurant Supervisor at the 5-star Lafesta Phu Quoc hotel demonstrates how career passion, a positive attitude, and hands-on experience drive long-term professional success in the hospitality industry.

During his academic years, Huy distinguished himself both academically and through extracurricular leadership. He served as a Executive Board Member of his class's Youth Union branch, an Executive Board Member of the Faculty of Tourism's Youth Union (2018–2019), and Head of the college's Skills Club, where he led various community outreach initiatives. Practical experience gained through organizing events and departmental workshops honed his communication, teamwork, and leadership skills.

After graduation, Huy began his career as a frontline server, advancing to Bartender within a year. Over three years of service across international hotel groups including Accor and Hilton, he demonstrated strong technical proficiency and adaptability in luxury service environments. In 2025, he was promoted to Restaurant Supervisor at Lafesta Phu Quoc, marking a major milestone in his management career on Phu Quoc Island.

Sharing his experience with prospective job seekers, Huy emphasized: "Choose the right field, maintain a positive attitude toward everyone, and demonstrate confidence and poise during interviews." He credits KGC’s practical training environment—including club involvement, volunteer work, and internships—with giving him the confidence to excel in high-pressure corporate settings.

On the morning of September 5, 2026, joining the vibrant nationwide atmosphere celebrating the new academic year, Kien Giang College solemnly organized the Opening Ceremony for the 2026–2027 Academic Year at its Mac Cuu campus (425 Mạc Cửu Street, Rạch Giá ward). In accordance with national regulations, the program was held in a concise yet formal hybrid format, combining in-person and online participation to mark an encouraging new chapter for Cohort 7 students of the College 9+ program.

This year's event represents a significant milestone as the college continues to welcome a dynamic generation of 15- and 16-year-old learners. The hall was filled with energetic enthusiasm, bright smiles, and eager anticipation from the new intake. By choosing a dual-track pathway that combines high school general education with vocational training immediately after graduating from secondary school, these students have demonstrated strong determination and a proactive mindset in shaping their future careers. The ceremonial drumbeat not only signaled the start of a new academic year but also served as the warmest welcome to the incoming College 9+ Cohort 7.

The ceremony concluded with great joy and high expectations for a successful academic year. Starting today, Cohort 7 students officially step into a dynamic learning environment dedicated to providing practical knowledge and comprehensive development opportunities. Nguyễn Văn Thắng, an alumnus of the Hotel Management 3 (Cohort 12), is currently working at Sun Group as a Culinary Project Setup Specialist. His role takes him across the country—from the North to the Central and Southern regions—to manage culinary projects at prominent tourist destinations nationwide.

In his current role, Thắng participates in multiple phases of a project, ranging from pre-opening preparation and launch to grand openings and initial operational support. Prior to implementation, he collaborates with various departments to define project briefs, prepare pre-opening budgets for kitchen and restaurant operations, and propose design requirements for marketing collateral. Once a project launches, Thắng assists with procurement, coordinates marketing collateral design, develops standard operational procedures (SOPs), inspects asset quality, and oversees project handovers.

During the operational phase, Thắng conducts onboarding and operational training for new personnel, monitors day-to-day operations, manages purchasing and staffing, optimizes workflow arrangements, tracks revenue targets, and proposes tailored services to meet customer needs.

Reflecting on his career path, Thắng shares: "The job can be demanding, but Sun Group has offered me the opportunity to become a versatile, multi-skilled professional handling diverse responsibilities. Above all, it gives me the chance to travel, work, and gain valuable experience at premier destinations across Vietnam."

Looking back at his time at Kien Giang College, Thắng deeply appreciates the foundational knowledge and practical training he received: "Studying Hotel Management at KGC provided me with essential skills directly applicable to my career—from kitchen operations and restaurant service to customer experience management. Combined with practical corporate internships, this solid foundation has helped me excel in my current role. I am truly grateful to my lecturers at KGC."

On the afternoon of September 3, 2026, Kien Giang College successfully held a ceremony to sign a comprehensive partnership agreement and receive a sponsorship of 20 desktop computers from the Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam (BIDV) – Kien Giang Branch.

The event was attended by Mr. Ngô Xuân Hiền, Director of BIDV Kien Giang; Mr. Lê Hoàng Nam, Director of BIC Kien Giang; along with key representatives and department heads from BIDV Kien Giang and BIC Kien Giang. Representing the college were Mr. Nguyễn Minh Quân, Rector of Kien Giang College, alongside leaders from various faculties, departments, and centers.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Nguyễn Minh Quân expressed his sincere gratitude for BIDV Kien Giang's invaluable partnership and support. On behalf of the sponsor, Mr. Ngô Xuân Hiền reaffirmed BIDV's commitment to building a long-term, sustainable partnership with the college to foster education and high-quality human resource development.

During the event, leaders from both organizations officially signed the comprehensive cooperation agreement and handed over 20 desktop computers dedicated to supporting teaching and learning activities. Following the signing ceremony, delegates officially inaugurated the new computer lab and joined students in inspecting and testing the new hardware system.

This comprehensive partnership marks a significant milestone in strengthening ties between Kien Giang College and BIDV Kien Giang. The installation of modern computer equipment not only upgrades the institution's IT infrastructure but also provides students with optimal conditions for hands-on technical training, ultimately improving educational quality to meet the growing demands of the labor market.
